BRIGHTON STATION

Having developed and proven a specialist welding procedure for the structural repair of the original cast structure supporting the roof at Brighton Station, McNealy Brown Limited were awarded the £5.7m contract for the structural repair works which formed part of a total contract value for the station roof refurbishment of £33m.

The site based management structure and 40 strong labour force worked to ISO 9002 quality procedures on a programme closely co-ordinated with other trades to complete on time and within budget.

The package for the repair of the supporting structural metalwork, broadly fell into three main categories;

1. In-situ repair of the main roof trusses.
2. Removal of beams etc. for on site repair.
3. Replacement of individual elements damaged
beyond economic repair.

Mobilisation for the site included the erection of a fully equipped 2000 sq ft workshop together with accompanying offices and storage.

With the successful conclusion of the project McNealy Brown Limited have become further involved with Railtrack’s Station Regeneration Programme for London and the South East.
